Classes

ABOM 2019 will have 3 types of classes: Competition classes, Youth classes and Open classes.

 

All classes have their specific level of difficulty. Bellow you can see difference between the 6 levels.

Difficulty levels

 

The Competition classes are the ones from Women and Men 14 to Women 70 and Men 80. All these classes have start-times.

The Youth classes, also known as “Formation classes”, are the ones for Women/Men 10 and Women/Men 12.

These classes have free start-times. Participants can start during the time-interval given by organization. It is allowed to have parental control in Youth classes, once they have no competition purpose.

During the prize giving ceremony, all the participantes in Youth classes are called to the stage to receive a small gift.

The Open classes are the ones specially designed to beginners, ocasional orienteers and groups.

On these classes, because they have a formation and promotion propose, it is possible to participate in groups. However, all participants in the group must be individually registered, as they all carry their own SI-card and map.

These classes have free start-times. Participants can start during the time-interval given by organization.

 

Open classes Any gender/age, alone or in groups. Difficulty level
Easy short Courses with 2 to 4 km, using linear references, specially paths, without technical difficulty. There isn’t need Orienteering knowledge or physical endurance. It’s a good opportunity to a do a walk in the forest.

Easy long Courses between 4 to 6 km, with low technical and physical demand, with a course using mainly linear references.

Difficult short Course within 3 to 5 km, where is essential to have some Orienteering skills. Medium technical difficulty and low physical endurance needed.

Difficult long Course with 4 to 7 km. Medium/high physical endurance needed, and some solid Orienteering technique.
